How long does it take to complete the Medical Education Credentials verification process?

You send your Diploma to ECFMG

Time interval: depends on how you send it- Ordinary mails are NOT recommended if you are sending from your home country.

ECFMG receives your Diploma

Time Interval: 2 to 3 weeks (generally)

ECFMG sends your diploma back to your medical school

Time interval: depends on your medical school and how you speed up your med school office people.

Now your medical school sends your diploma + Transcript back to ECFMG

Time interval: depends on how your school sends it. Ask your school to send it by courier.

ECFMG receives the packet from your school

Time interval: Generally, within 1-2 weeks ECFMG declares that your credentials are verified, if everything is fine.

Now if you have already completed your USMLE step 1, 2 CK and CS, the ECFMG would send you the ECFMG certificate in about a week’s time after your credentials are declared as ‘verified’.

I do not understand the process how it works.

I finished Step 1, Step 2 CK, and not done yet CS. My diploma and transcript sent to ECFMG by my medical school and my ECFMG record told me that they received them but verification is pending. What does that mean?

Please help me.
