Hello there, Muquith!

We almost have the same scores! Sad to say that this is not so impressive, since there are so many IMG applicants with grades over 99|240. However, you have what the program directors want in the current trend of times - no visa issues, publications, prior training in the same field and no gap in CV (meaning that you have practice your profession in your own country).

However, you have to improve some parts of your credentials... Take Step 3 to compensate for the average scores, do an observership or externship in the US and get US LORs from the physicians who knows you as a person and who knows how you work as a physician. US physicians tend to give more weight to US LORs compared to LORs from physicians in foreign countries.

We sort of went through the same difficult process during the Match. I will be honest with you - I think you won't match this year. Although you fulfill most of the requirements of the programs, timing is of the issue.

See, you got your ECFMG certification on November 19. The problem is that most program directors have already selected who to interview by September. They will start sending interviews by the second week of September, and the first date of interview will already be probably set in the first week of October at the latest. There are already many applicants who completed the requirements prior to you - those who have taken Step 3, those who are already ECFMG certified prior to September 1, those already who had USCE and US LORs.

It's good that you're shadowing a US doctor already. However, I do not suggest that you email those programs who have already sent you rejection letters. The reason is that the MyERAS program that they use is already updated - they already knew you passed CK, they already knew you fulfill their criteria BUT they found other applicants who have better credentials than you have.

What I suggest is that you improve your credentials further. I wish you good luck in your journey!

I cannot answer that question, because as of the current time, I've only been invited for interviews. I'm sorry. But then, I guess improving the credentials increased my chance of obtaining interviews...

you hav a green card in your hand so you should thik little diffrerent...apply to programs which cant sponsour visa..normally these are very small programs and they cant even sponsor J1 visa..ther r not even attracted by amg my advice is first apply for an observership in that programme..simultaneosly try to schedule an interview..to your knowledge most of these programs go unfilled ..so continue doing observership till march in the same program dont get frustrated on seeing others ..try and try the doors may finally open for you
